San Benedetto del Tronto is the southernmost coastal town in the Marche region. Also called Riviera delle Palme is one of the main tourist resorts of the Marche. San Benedetto del Tronto has always been closely linked to the sea and the maritime tradition. The Polo Museale del Mare includes the Maritime Civilization Museum of the Marche, the Amphorae Museum, the Fish Museum and the Antiquarium Truentinum. The Pinacoteca del mare - inaugurated in April 2009 - although located in the heart of the old encased, is an integral part of the thematic museum complex dedicated to the sea that the Municipal Administration has set up at the Fish Market. The ancient village is characterized by the fourteenth-century hexagonal Torre dei Gualtieri; the "tower", which through its clock marks the hours of the day, is the symbol of the city. Among the sites of greatest tourist attraction we remember: the Sanctuary of the Modonna of the Blessed Sacrament, the Cathedral of Santa Maria della Marina, the Church of San Giuseppe, the Bishopric, the Palazzina Azzurra, the Concordia Municipal Theater, the Lighthouse. The typical dish of San Benedetto del Tronto is the brodetto alla sanbenedettese, a fish soup, with the addition of peppers and vinegar. Some of the most significant events taking place in San Benedetto del Tronto during the year include: the exhibition-market "L'Antico e le Palme", ​​which attracts Italian and foreign antique dealers and collectors; the Festa della Madonna della Marina, which takes place on the last Sunday of July and consists of a procession at sea with fishing boats; the "Libero Bizzarri" Prize, one of the most renowned competitions in the field of documentary cinema at national level; Anghiò, the International Blue Fish festival.
